Analyst – Risk Management
American Express is hiring an Analyst / Senior Analyst – Risk Management to support its Financial Crimes Risk & Controls Center of Excellence. This role focuses on analytics-driven risk management, helping identify, monitor, and prevent financial crimes across global business lines.
You’ll work with large datasets, build KRIs/KPIs, strengthen data governance, and deliver actionable insights to reduce financial crime risks such as AML, fraud, sanctions, and anti-corruption.

Key Responsibilities
Use analytics to identify financial crime risks and design effective control mechanisms
Develop and monitor KRIs and KPIs for financial crime risk management
Perform end-to-end analytics projects from problem definition to insights and recommendations
Leverage internal and external data sources to detect emerging risks
Support data governance, reporting, and risk reduction initiatives
Partner with global teams across multiple business units and technology teams
Create compelling decks and present insights to stakeholders
Required Experience
1–3 years of experience in analytics
Preferred exposure to:
Credit Risk
Fraud Risk
Financial Crimes Risk
GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance)
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or related fields
Preferred: Postgraduate degree in Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Engineering
Technical Skills
Python, SQL, Hive, PySpark
Advanced statistical techniques
Advanced Excel (VBA preferred)
Tableau or Power BI
Strong data storytelling and presentation skills
Excellent English communication (written & verbal)
Payments or financial services experience is a plus
