HDFC Bank is hiring a Legal Appraiser for its Delhi location to support its retail lending and property-related legal operations. The role involves examining property documents, verifying titles, providing legal opinions, and ensuring compliance with applicable property and banking laws. The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years of experience in property law and lending documentation, along with an LL.B degree, and will work closely with internal teams and external legal professionals to facilitate secure and compliant lending processes.
🧾 Key Responsibilities
Examine and appraise project and property-related files with updated knowledge of property laws
Verify title documents related to individual and retail loans
Provide legal opinions on property ownership, security creation, and mortgage documentation
Review and certify legal documents submitted for properties under mortgage
Draft and review agreements such as loan agreements, service agreements, affidavits, undertakings, and indemnity bonds
Handle compliance-related matters under applicable local and central laws
Respond to legal notices and coordinate with internal teams and external legal professionals
Vet reports prepared by third-party advocates and ensure accuracy
🎯 Desired Candidate Profile
LL.B degree from a recognized university
Strong working knowledge of:
Transfer of Property Act
SARFAESI Act
Indian Registration Act
Indian Stamp Act
Companies Act and RERA
Experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents related to property and lending
Good command of English (spoken and written); ability to read local language is a plus
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to explain legal procedures clearly to non-legal professionals
Self-motivated with a client-focused approach
